We have been requested to inform all of you of a research study. I’m just going to copy and paste the e-mail announcement below. It should be relatively short and your participation would be greatly appreciated! Yay participation!
My name is Sara Richardson and I am a graduate student in the Psychology Department at the University of Northern Iowa. I am conducting my thesis on experiences of stigma through the lenses of sexual orientation and gender and how these experiences relate to individuals’ health practices. I am currently in the process of recruiting non-heterosexual participants from LGBT centers and organizations across the United States to take an online survey that assesses experiences of stigma and health practices. I was wondering if you would be willing to forward the survey link to other members on your e-mailing list(s) so that they would have an opportunity to participate in the survey as well. https://unisbs.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_6xO5BKTqjXdIdW5 This survey should take a little under 10 minutes to complete, on average.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me at email@example.com and I will answer them as quickly and completely as possible.
Thank you so much for your cooperation!

Hello. We are a research team conducting a study examining attitudes, feelings, and experiences of heterosexual biological siblings of lesbian or gay persons. We would appreciate it if you could forward our research announcement below to students, colleagues, and friends who may be interested in participating in this study. Thank you!
I am a researcher conducting a study examining attitudes, feelings, and experiences of heterosexual biological siblings of lesbian or gay (LG) persons. By comparison to the research focused on the parents after LG disclosure, there is crucial evidence missing regarding what this experience is like for the LG individual’s sibling(s), so I would greatly appreciate your participation in this study. To be eligible to participate, you must be a heterosexual biological sibling of a LG person and be at least 18 years old.
The survey is anonymous and takes approximately 30-40 minutes to complete. Your participation will remain anonymous.
If you would like to participate in this research study, please type the following hypertext link into your browser: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/heterosexualsiblingsofLG
In exchange for participating, you will have the opportunity to be entered into a raffle for one of three $100 gift cards to Amazon.com.
This research has been reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board for protection of human subjects at the University of Tennessee. Please feel free to forward this e-mail announcement to eligible colleagues, friends, and students.
